Help!! New addition roof to pair with original slate

We are putting an addition on our 1912 arts & crafts home that currently has a slate roof. I am torn as to what materials we should use on the new roof.

New slate may be cost prohibitive so we've considered Ecostar slate shake but I'm worried it won't really match. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

I like the idea of playing up the look of mixed materials but I don't want to make a huge mistake and choose wrong!! I'm not sure if asphalt would compliment the historic nature of the house or not. Black metal or copper would probably look ok but I'm not sure if it would be too much - often I see it on smaller dormer or porch area. Ideas anyone? Thanks!!
